The 2004 Boston Red Sox returned to Fenway on Wednesday night. Hard to believe it has been 10 years since the Sox won their first World Series in some 80 years. What a crazy ride it was though, coming back from being down 3-0 against the rival Yankees and then dominating the St. Louis Cardinals in a clean sweep. The Sox had the 2004 World Series banner hanging from the Green Monster where the players were called out one by one to the mound.
It was all great and then Manny Ramirez stepped up to the mound to throw out the opening pitch. Whoever had the idea to come up with this deserves a raise.
Former Red Sox great Johnny Damon ran out and cut off the pitch just like what Manny did during the 2004 season. Here is the video clip from that exact play. Sure Damon is glad to get some payback on one of the greatest hitters of all time.
Manny being Manny. Gotta love it. Man I miss those days.
