Buffalo – Two men were arrested Thursday for operating a methamphetamine lab out of a house on Field Avenue in the Village of Lancaster, according to town police and the U.S. Attorney’s office.
John Ruth, 39, and Michael Jachimiak, 37, both of Lancaster, were charged in a federal criminal complaint following an early-afternoon raid on a home at 97 Field by Lancaster police detectives and agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Lancaster Police Detectives Thomas Bulera and Edward Wojtal launched an investigation after calls from some Field Avenue residents about suspicious activities at the house. Trash dumped at the home was recently seized, police said, and officers found discarded packaging for pseudoephedrine, a precursor of methamphetamine, empty bottles of drain cleaner, lighter fluid, used rubber tubing, so-called plastic “one pot” meth lab bottles and an empty cold pack. U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. said all those materials are needed to operate a meth lab.
Did these guys really think they were going to be the next Walter White and Jesse Pinkman? I am sure many of these stories have popped up around the country in the past couple months and people just shake their heads thinking really. You got to love the effort, but had to have known how this was all going to end. You can’t just leave packaging for pseudo and a couple of empty bottle of drain cleaner in front of your house and not have people wondering.
I guess if you are desperate for money, then you have to do whatever is necessary. Last time I checked though, Lancaster was not a town of people struggling financially. Maybe these two clowns figured they would not be disturbed by the “rich” and be able to get away with it. Think again. Have fun spending time in jail. Way to keep the streets of Lancaster safe people. Round of applause.
