The UB Bulls kicked off their 2014-15 men’s basketball campaign with a 69-67 win over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Big man Justin Moss led the way with 25 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomore Shannon Evans added 17 points. Lamonte Bearden, the first true freshman to start at UB since Greg Gamble in 2005-06, scored 8 points and had 6 assists. The Bulls connected on just 1 of 9 from beyond the arc.
This afternoon, the Bulls took on the number 1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats, and sure did put a scare in the blue and white faithful. Junior Jarryn Skeete led all scorers with 16 points, but only managed to get two points in the second half. The Bulls led at halftime 38-33, but the Wildcats got off to a hot start. The Bulls managed to battle back and even grab a one point lead, but after some bad shot selections, and costly turnovers, Kentucky made a run and never looked back. The highlight of the game for the Bulls came on a slam dunk from Moss off of a pick and roll with Evans. The play is sure to be seen on SportsCenter tonight/tomorrow morning.
