#5 Cincinnati Bengals @ #4 Indianapolis Colts
Lucas Oil Stadium 1:05pm – CBS
The last time the Bengals won a playoff game, Boomer Esiason was handing the ball off to Ickey Woods. Can Andy Dalton and Jeremy Hill change that? Probably not. Remember last year when the Colts were down by 28 points to the Chiefs last season. Andrew Luck did his thing and the Colts came back to win.45-44. With AJ Green listed as doubtful now for the Bengals, that does not help their chances. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is 0-3 in his three playoff appearances, throwing 6 interceptions and just 1 touchdown. It must suck to be a ginger. If AJ Green does not play, this could get ugly as the Colts will put 9 in the box and stuff the run game.
TY Hilton is the man, yet still underrated. Last year against the Chiefs was his coming out party. Look for tight end Coby Fleener to have a solid game. ESPN marked his as one of the 5 must underrated players to have a breakout postseason. Andrew Luck is Andrew Luck. He is the second coming of Peyton Manning, maybe even better. The Stanford grad threw for over 4,700 yards with 40 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. I expect Luck to put up some big numbers as Trent Richardson doesn’t do anything for me at the running back position. Bet you can’t name the other two Colts running backs.
Colts cover and advance to take on the Broncos.
#6 Detroit Lions @ #3 Dallas Cowboys
AT&T Stadium 4:40pm – FOX
The fact the Ndamuking Suh was able to win his appeal makes Demarco Murray’s job that much tougher. The Detroit Lions boast one of the best front four in the game. The Lions allowed just under 90 rushing yards a game. The Cowboys will still hand Murray the rock, but look for Tony Romo to be slinging the ball around to all of his targets. Dez Bryant is a stud, but if he is double teamed, Romo still has Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, and the ever forgotten Jason Witten. How smarter does Jerry Jones look now for drafting right guard Zack Martin out of Notre Dame rather than Johnny Manziel? Genius!
Like the Cowboys, the Lions have a bevy of weapons for their own gunslinger Matthew Stafford. Calvin Johnson is arguable the best wide receiver in the game, and with the addition of Golden Tate III, that just opens up the field even more. The Lions come into this game winning four out of their last five, with that lone loss coming to the hands of the Green Bay Packers and a chance at the NFC North title.
Cowboys win in Jerry’s World and Romo throws for four touchdowns!
