The Red Sox are on a two game win streak thanks to the Angels and Mike Napoli who has finally decided to drop some bombs. I looked at the standings this morning to see where they were in the division and they are just 2.5 games back from the first place Tampa Bay Rays. While looking at the standings, the one number that jumped out to me was the run differential. The Sox are -32. That is crazy. Not sure who you put that blame on. The so far awful putting staff or the offense still trying to find its mojo?
The offense only has one hitter above .300 and that is Justin Masterson who is 2-3 on the season. Brock Holt is the closest batting .297. Daniel Nava is at .167. Maybe it is time to part ways with the 9th outfielder on the team. Is David Ortiz slowing down? He had a bad stretch a couple of years ago and then just turned it on. It is still early, but come on Papi.
Do I even need to talk about the rotation? Go trade for Cole Hamels. He is playing on one of the worst teams in the league and is 5-3 with a 2.98 ERA. The veteran lefty is 4-0 in his last four starts, including limiting the Nationals to just one earned run in his last start. Has new pitching coach Carl Willis had am impact on these guys since he has joined the club? It is looking like. Miley looked well in his start yesterday against the Angels.
Time to turn it around fellas!
