Bills Offense Decided Not To Show Up For Opener

Holy fuck! Just 160 yards of total offense over the course of 60 minutes. This could be a long season. Now I must start by saying that I am no football guru. I have a full time job in a cube, so I can’t spend every second studying defenses, or understand what the mismatches on the offensive line, but jesus christ. Andy Dalton targeted his best wide receiver AJ Green 13 times. Green brought in 12 of those for 180 yards and a score. Sammy Watkins, the Bills best wide receiver was targeted just six times for four receptions and just 43 yards. Remember when Sammy spoke up last season and he made shit happen. Well it is time to speak up Sammy.

The defense played awesome. Other than some stupid penalties which extended drives for the Ravens, it was the defense that kept this game close. They recorded four sacks, two from Jerry Hughes, and forced a fumble that was recovered by Preston Brown. Listening to Nate Geary on WGR last night (I actually enjoy listing to him) he mentioned about the outstanding play from the front seven, and then mentioned that they credited the defensive backs for the tight coverage which enabled them to put pressure on the elite Joe Flacco.

Back to the offense. Just frustrating. I thought Greg Roman was some offensive guru. He has plenty of talent on the field with Tyrod, McCoy, Watkins, Clay, Bush, and even Robert Woods. First game jitters? Taylor’s return to Baltimore? Whatever the case may be, this team needs to figure it out ASAP because we have a nationally televised game Thursday night against an AFC East opponent. The Bills scored the fewest amount of points, so far for week one. They could have been tied with the Dolphins and Browns if Dan Carpenter made a 49 yard field goal. Is that far for a professional kicker? Dude had a solid preseason, and now it all goes out the window after one miss. Tough spot to be in, but this is how you earn your paycheck.
