The Bills are coming off their bye week, and were not quite sure if the bye week came at the right time or not. Week 9 in Seattle was all about evaluating Tyrod, and T-Mobile impressed. So what does that mean for the second half of the season? It means the Bills have little wiggle room if they want to make the playoffs. Realistically the Bills can only have one slip up if they want to snap the streak.
On to Cincinnati! The Bengals are 3-5-1, so that means the Bills have a chance. Cinci was the popular pick last Monday night, but after they fell to the Giants, desperation has reached new heights. Today’s game at Paul Brown Stadium will be there first home game in almost a month. Like every other team in the NFL, a common theme for the Bengals is the play of their offensive line. This week they go up against the defense with the most sacks. With Marcell Darreus expected to play, look for this defense to get after it. Jerry Hughes and Lorenzo Alexander will combine for 4 sacks. Book it now. The only place where the Bills D could become exposed is anyone who covers AJ Green. The Bills DB duo of Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby has been anything but impressive. After such a strong 2015 season, these two have been getting embarrassed it seems like every game. All they have to do is keep Green under 100 yards and the Bills will win. Green has only gone over 100 yards just three times this season, all three Bengals wins.
Offensively for the Bills, their 31-25 loss against the Seahawks may have been the best offensive performance we have seen from Tyrod in his short time with the Bills. He was completing passes down the field against a solid backfield in Seattle. The Bengals defense is ranked 26th in rush defense, so look for Shady and Gillislee to get a fair amount of touches and grind it out. The Bills seem to win a lot more games when Tyrod throws the ball less then 30 times a game. One key to that will be the play of newly appointed center Ryan Groy who has to step in for the injured Eric Wood. Please don’t fuck this up Ryan.
So what is my prediction? The Bengals are coming of a rough loss on Monday night, while the Bills are fully rested after coming off their bye week. Bills will 31-21. 5 more wins and they are in!
